Students of the year 2006

Congratulations to Kay and Georgie Cameron and Ray Cutting on being voted Woodlane students of the year 2006.

Georgie was a unanimous choice for Junior student of the year 2006.  Consistent attendance and hard work all came together this year to produce a first place performance in the Ishinryus Kumite competition as well as moving Georgie to a well deserved 2nd Kyu award in September.  Always a popular student, this was a well deserved award for Georgie.

Senior student for 2006 was a very difficult choice due to the outstanding performance of two students.  The call was so close that, for the first time, two students were nominated.

Kay Cameron has trained consistently since the late 90's and always supports club activities.  Consistent attendance, correct attitude and sheer hard work make this a well deserved reward.  Competing in both Kumite and Kata at the 2006 Ishinryus, Kay returned with three awards for the club.

Ray Cutting always gives 100% during training.  This determination was one of the factors that got Ray to the coveted 1st Dan (Black Belt) grade this year.  Working just as hard since, Ray fought in the 2006 Ishinryu competitions as well as attending the Newcastle course in November.

Student of the year awards are decided by, and voted on, by the club instructors at the end of each year.  The criteria for selecting students is based on a number of factors including attendance, attitude, hard-work, and improvement over the 12 month period.
